PROJECTS

aMAZElab promotes and develops projects that explore the boundaries of contemporary art as social practice, public space, and cultural research. Through curated and participatory initiatives, the association develops programmes of exhibitions, installations, workshops, and urban interventions that engage with local communities and international contexts.

Among its activities are exhibition-based paths such as group shows, artist residencies, and thematic projects – for example investigations into urban ecologies and the relationship between art and landscape – involving artists, researchers, and institutional partners in Italy and abroad. aMAZElab also supports editorial production, critical debate, and interdisciplinary reflection through publications, round tables, and research programmes that span diverse geographical, social, and cultural territories.

Green Island is an active laboratory and the first artistic project in the streets of the ISOLA district, developed among the small artisan workshops that began their activity in Via Pepe, alongside existing ones and historic blacksmiths’, carpenters’, and luthiers’ workshops.

In conjunction with the 2003 Philosophy Festival, the event Going Public was presented as a journey through artistic practices that have made the interpretation of territory, society, and politics their primary material. The event hosted international projects specifically created for the occasion.

The public space is a place where people act and create “a common world full of differences” (S. Sassen). We are currently experiencing a crisis in public space, the result of conflicting interests and various other causes, leading to a sense of disorientation between individuals and communities.

A series of diverse projects created by different artists.
